East African Crude Oil Pipeline construction progresses on schedule with significant infrastructure development achievements.
The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project has reached a significant construction milestone, with major infrastructure development achievements recorded across multiple sections of the 1,443-kilometre pipeline route.
Construction teams have successfully completed key sections of the pipeline route, with welding, coating, and burial operations progressing ahead of schedule.
UNOC's Project Director for EACOP noted: "This milestone reflects the dedication and hard work of thousands of workers and engineers."
The pipeline project has also generated significant local employment opportunities, with thousands of Ugandan and Tanzanian workers employed across various construction activities.
Environmental management measures have been implemented throughout the construction process, including habitat restoration and water crossing protection.
Upon completion, EACOP will have the capacity to transport up to 246,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
